Holi, alkuperäiseltä nimeltään 'Holika' on yksi Intian vanhimmista festivaaleista. Holia juhlitaan vuosittain maaliskuun alussa, ensimmäisenä päivänä täydenkuun jälkeen ja sillä ylistetään hyvää satoa ja maan hedelmällisyyttä. Samalla se on keväisen sadonkorjuun aikaa. Kamal Kanhaiya Entertainments was established last year by Arti Sudhindra and it is specializing in promoting Indian culture in Finland. KKE is organizing a Holi event on Saturday 23rd of March in Lauttasaari, Helsinki.The happening will have dance performances by the KKE group and children, mime acts, singing Holi songs, games and of course DJ, so that the audience can join to dance as well! Sounds like there will be lots of fun as it should be, as it's Holi! :)
Holi is an ancient festival of India and was originally known as 'Holika'. Every year it is celebrated on the day after the full moon in early March and glorifies good harvest and fertility of the land. It is also time for spring harvest. The new crop refills the stores in every household and perhaps such abundance accounts for the riotous merriment during Holi. You can read more about Holi here.
