The film is a sequel to the successful film Singam (2010) and it stars Surya in the main role. In supporting roles are Anushka Shetty, Hansika Motwani, Vivek and Santhanam. The film is written and directed by Hari and produced by S. Lakshman Kumar together Kyle Ambrose (South African line producer) and Delon Bakker (supervising producer: South Africa). Cinematography by Priyan, Editing by V.T. Vijayan, Art Direction by Kadhir. Original Music by Devi Sri Prasad and lyrics by Viveka.
Picking up the storyline from where Singam ended, Durai Singam (Suriya) has gone undercover and is working as an NCC officer in a school in Thoothukudi. Sathya (Hansika Motwani) is a student who falls for Durai Singam though he is waiting to marry Kavya (Anushka Shetty), his love interest from the previous film. Bhai (Mukesh Rishi) and Thangaraj (Rahman), are two criminals who control the area. They join with an international drug dealer Danny (Danny Sapani).
