Nyt kaikkien katse kohti Kuopio Tanssii ja Soi -festivaalia, joka pidetään 12-18.6.2014! Festivaalilla on mahdollisuus osallistua bollywood ja kathak -tanssikursseille, joita vetää Hanna Mannila. Opetuspaikkana toimii PalatsiStudiot (Haapaniemenkatu 34).

Bollywood on Intian hindinkielisistä elokuvista tuttua tanssia, jossa monet vanhat ja uudemmatkin perinteet ja tyylit yhdistyvät tunnepitoiseksi, värikkääksi kokonaisuudeksi. Lajin liikekieli sekoittaa ikivanhoja intialaisia klassisia- ja kansantansseja kotimaansa ulkopuolisiin lainoihin hiphopista itämaiseen tanssiin. Tanssiin kuuluu vahvasti teatraalisuus ja toisinaan myös leikittely ja huumori.

Kathak on klassista intialaista tanssia Pohjois-Intian hoveista ja temppeleistä. Kathak on kuuluisa eleganteista käsiliikkeistä, tunteellisesta ilmaisusta, nopeista pirueteista ja jalkojen rytmisarjoista nilkkakulkusineen. Tanssin kertovissa osioissa tulkitaan miimillisen tanssin avulla lauluja, jotka liittyvät rakkauteen, vuodenaikoihin ja hindulaisiin tarinoihin. Bollywood-tanssi on saanut paljon vaikutteita kathakista.


HANNA MANNILA

Hanna aloitti tanssiopinnot lapsena baletilla ja jazzilla, mutta viimeiset 15 vuotta hän on keskittynyt intialaisiin tansseihin. Intialaisessa klassisessa kathak-tanssissa Hannaa viehättää sen vaativa tekniikka ja tanssiin liittyvät tarinat, bollywoodissa taas mukaansa tempaava positiivisuus ja rentous. Hanna toimi vuosina 2003-2011 Lontoossa tanssitaiteilijana opettaen kathakia ja bollywoodia ja esiintyen eri tanssiryhmien mukana lähinnä Euroopassa ja Intiassa. Englannissa hän valmistui myös jooga- ja Just Jhoom! (bollywood-fitness) -ohjaajaksi. Nykyään Hanna opettaa Helsingissä kathakia, bollywoodia ja joogaa. Hänellä on myös filosofian maisterin tutkinto Etelä-Aasian tutkimuksesta.

Mahdollisuus oppia rajasthanilaista kansantanssia heinäkuussa

Sain tällaisen viestin Ilonalta. Otahan häneen yhteyttä viimeistään su 1.6.2014 jos kiinnostuit! Toivottavasti saadaan tapahtuma järjestettyä!! :)


Hei tanssijat!

Nyt olisi käsillä aika ainutlaatuinen tilaisuus päästä kokeilemaan rajasthanilaista kalbeliya-tanssia livesäestyksellä (tabla, harmonium/ laulu) heinäkuun alussa Helsingissä. Vastaavaa ei ole aikaisemmin täällä järjestetty tietääkseni!

Kolme Bollywood Masala Orchestran jäsentä olisi mahdollisesti tulossa esiintymään ja pitämään luentoja/ workshopeja rajastahinaisesta kansanmusiikista. Orkesteri on parhaillaan maailmankiertueella ja ehtisi poiketa Suomessa 1.-10.7. aikavälillä 3 jäsenen voimin. Tarkka ajankohta ei ole vielä selvillä, sillä kartoitan ensin olisiko Suomessa tarpeeksi kiinnostusta tällaiselle. Tanssikurssin hinnaksi olen ajatellut n. 50 e/ 3 tunnin kurssi.

Hi all,

There would be an amazing opportunity to enjoy, and learn more about Rajasthani folk music and dance in the beginning of July in Helsinki. Possibly 3 members of Bollywood Masala Orchestra would be coming back to Finland (you could enjoy their music and dance two weeks a go at Savoy theater) between 1. - 10.7. as their world tour still continues.

I'm looking for people interested in Rajasthani folk dance workshop (approximately 3 hours/ 50 euros), with live music of course! There is also a chance to attend to a tabla lecture. We are also planning to organize a concert/ dance show. 

If you are interested in a dance workshop with live music or a lecture, please email me "ilona.kolachana(a)gmail.com" soon. I will be looking for people interested in workshop/ lecture for this week, to come to know if there is enough demand for this kind of event in Finland in July.

Bollywood play Temporary Lives 26.4.2014 at 7pm at Kanneltalo

You must been wondering the silence here in blog. Where are all the updates..?
Well, I can happily tell that I have been very busy with directing my new play. :)

2 years ago I directed Ek Kahani - Love Story which was a huge hit here in Helsinki. We had 2 shows, one in May and one in September 2012 at Cultural Center Caisa.

Last Fall I started planning a new play. I had an idea of an Indian family, separated living in different countries. The idea came when I heard about the problems which Indians are facing when living abroad.

Synopsis:

Temporary Lives is the story of an Indian family divided to live on two continents, their joys and sorrows. The mother and father are living alone in India. The daughter, Priya, is about to graduate in France. Returning home means getting married, and in India, marriages are arranged. The son, Pankaj, is living in Finland with his family during an onsite assignment. Pankaj has adapted to the new country but his wife Anjali is having trouble adjusting. What does destiny have in store for them? Come and find out! 

Acting practice

I started to write the script with Laura Kunnas, who has also a very nice knowledge about Indian culture.

For me, it was very important to have different dance groups and teachers as part of the play. So I asked Royal Bollywood, Bolly Beat Dancers and Kamal Kanhaiya Entertainments to join the play. They all agreed which was wonderful. I also asked my dear actors and dancers from Ek Kahani play and we also held an audition from where we got many lovely and talented dancers.

And can you imagine. All of us are working for free. It's about the love for Indian culture, love for acting and dancing, love for experiencing something unique together. At the moment we have only one show booked at Kanneltalo, but we are hoping that we could have the play performed several times in different cities in Finland. And as one of my friends said, How cool is that, to have Bollywood play here in Finland. Yep, it's gonna be an amazing experience for the audience and for the performers as well!
