Happy New Year 2014!

(English version below the Finnish)
Hei rakkaat lukijat!

Erityiskiitos Intia-Keskuksen Raj Kumarille, jolta saan tiedot tuotavista elokuvista reilusti etukäteen!

Ja tiedoksi kaikille muille intialaisia tansseja opettaville opettajille ja kulttuuritapahtumia järjestäville tahoille! Kerron mielelläni blogissani ympäri Suomea pidettävistä tanssikursseista ja tapahtumista. Blogissani vieraillaan useita tuhansia kertoja kuussa, tämä on siis hyvä paikka mainostaa tapahtumia ja osaamista! Kirjoittakaa siis rohkeasti minulle sähköpostia osoitteeseen: devika.rani(at)hotmail.com !

Oikein ihanaa Uutta Vuotta 2014 teille kaikille!

Hi dear readers!

I hope everyone has had lovely year. The year 2013 was really special to me because we got a new family member. I am also happy to notice the great number of interesting India-related events that happened last year. Unfortunately I wasn't able to blog every event here due of lack of time.

Now let's see what year 2014 is bringing to us! There will be at least Spectacular India at Stoa on 25.1. and bollywood dance theater play Temporary Lives at Kanneltalo on 26.4. I will blog more about these events later. Last year there were a movie screening almost every month. The movies screened were Hindi, Tamil or Telugu movies. Let's hope that FinTamil Movies, Intia-Keskus, Fronesis Media and other distributors will continue doing a good job bringing us interesting movies to watch! But I have a small request for the distributors, please inform if the movie has English subtitles in time, so I could blog about them. Special thanks for the Raj Kumar of Intia-Keskus, who has always informed me personally and well in advance about all the movies they are bringing !

For people interested about Indian dances and cultural happenings, I suggest you to pay attention to Finnish-Indian society, Cultural society India, Kamal Kanhaiya Entertainments, Royal Bollywood Dance Group, Etnica and to Bolly Beat Dance School, which is now a society with a new name Indian Classical & Contemporary Dance Society Finland, Bolly Beat Dance School & Bolly Beat Dancers ry.

I would also like to thank Teija Ahola (Duende), who is informing me all the India-related happening in Turku. :)

And for the teachers who are teaching Indian dances and for all the people who are arranging cultural happenings, I'd be happy to blog about the dance courses and events which are held all around in Finland. There are thousands of visits in my blog monthly, so this is a good place to advertise about happenings and your know-how! Write to me an email to: devika.rani(at)hotmail.com !

Happy New Year 2014 to everyone!

Goliyon ki Rasleela Ram-Leela at Kino K-13 on Saturday 16.11.2013!

Great news!! Tomorrow Saturday 16th of November Goliyon ki Rasleela Ram-Leela will be screened in Helsinki! We can thank Intia-Keskus for bringing this much anticipated movie.

The movie is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, same director who has directed Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Devdas and Guzaarish to name a few. His movies are known for being epic big budget movies with musical scenes to die-for. And by watching the songs of his up-coming film Goliyon ki Rasleela Ram-Leela, the main actors Deepika and Ranveer are giving their best. Movie is inspired and based on Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.

"Movie narrates the story of Ram (Ranveer Singh) and Leela (Deepika Padukone). The hostility and resentment between their families is an open secret, but as luck would have it, Ram and Leela fall in love. When truth dawns upon the respective families, a storm ensues, their worlds collide and a bloody battle occurs...Can Ram and Leela carve their destinies amidst abhorrence and slaughter? " -by Bollywood Hungama

See the trailer of the movie here.

The critics are praising the cinematography, Deepika's acting and the mesmerizing musical scenes.
See reviews of  Times of India, First Post, Bollywood Hungama.

Screenings of Krrish 3 and RamLeela in Helsinki

I talked with Raj Kumar of Intia-Keskus about another screening of the superhero movie Krrish 3. If you are interested to see the film (possible next Sunday 10.11.2013), please write a message to in@intian.fi

Check my last blog post about the movie. The film is a big budget action movie loyal to the superhero movie genre. Starring Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra and Vivek Oberoi.

We also talked about the possible screening of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's new movie RamLeela. Bhansali is famous for big budget epic eyecandy movies (Devdas, Saawariya) and judging by the trailer and the musical scenes, this film need to be seen from the big screen! The musical scenes looks awesome! Starring Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, as villainous Romeo and Juliet.

RamLeela will be released in India on 15th November. If you are interested to see the film (16.11!), please write to Intia-Keskus NOW! Email is: in@intian.fi
